The Economy model sights are a no frills “Soule” type tang sight with elevation and windage adjustments.
They are not just a stripped down version of our other sights, they are an entirely different sight with a different base and detente spring design that is easier and cheaper to make. It also features only a standard eye cup with #10x32 threads, but the important parts of the sight (the adjustments) are made and fitted the same way as our more expensive sights.
It features micrometer adjustments for windage, and vernier scale on the elevation, but also has ½ MOA marks on the elevation knob for more accurate elevation adjustments.
I typically tell potential buyers that it is all the sight 90% of the competitors actually need. It works like it is supposed to and does it at an economical price. I've sold thousands of them over the years with many happy repeat customers.
On the other hand as our eyes get older it is nice to have the “Hadley” style eye cup so we can adjust the hole size to the available light conditions. My standard #10x32 Hadley will screw right on this sight, and can be ordered at the same time as this sight, or added later.
Each type rifle, (I.E. Sharps, Winchester, Remington, Ballard, and etc.) has different angles on the top tang in relation to the bore line. We set the economy model sights to the correct angle when we manufacture them. It requires modification of the staff or spring to adjust that angle, and the detent spring must be compressed during assembly.
For that reason it is not recommended that you attempt to purchase this sight and multiple bases for several different rifles or different types of rifles. My “Supergrade” sights are more suited for that use.
Because of the lighter detent of this sight, it will tend to tip forward under recoil. If you would prefer that the sight stay upright after firing so you do not need to reset it during the re-loading process then you should consider the Supergrade sight as it has a much stronger detent spring.
Actually it has been shown with slow motion camera work that all sights tip forward under recoil, and then flip to the rear and etc. as the recoil slows. The stronger detent spring of the Supergrade sight actually catches the sight as it passes vertical and stops it at that point so it appears to have not moved.
This sight will fit all current reproduction high wall and low wall type rifles, as well as the originals. Fortunately most, if not all, of the reproductions have used the same hole spacing, but they do vary considerably as to which screw they have used to mount them. Just select the rifle you have from the list above.
Please note that some of the early Uberti rifles were rather randomly drilled for tang sights. Meaning that I have seen them vary as much as 1/16” center to center on the hole spacing with consecutive serial numbered rifles. If you have a Uberti rifle, please check that the hole spacing measures 2- 3/16” as it should. If not, then call for options.

I think this is the second or third I bought. All performed dead on. For this last one I needed a somewhat odd tang screw. The threads are a non- standard metric. Couldn't find a die but Lee had it and he made me a couple. Thanks Lee.

The sight installed with no problem and works perfect on the range. Elevate was dead on and windage took half a turn - out of the box. Thanks for a great product!

I was impressed with the quality of this sight at a very reasonable price.I have a $ 5,000 sharps 38/55 with a sight that is inferior to Shaver's at nearly twice the money.Installed in 3 minutes and easy to adjust.

Not much to add to the other three reviews already written except to agree wholeheartedly with them. Put this on my Win. 1885 38-55 Traditional Hunter to replace the wiggly Marbles sight it comes with. Easy to install, screw holes lined up perfectly. Dead on adjustments made it easy to sight in exactly. From the product description I was worried that it might flop forward and have to be reset each shot but with the recoil of a 38-55 it stays put. I got the Hadley eye cup at the same time which is well worth it, being able to adjust the aperture size for ambient light or target needs is great. I highly recommend this sight.

This is an excellent sight at a very modest price. The installation took less than 5 minutes on my Winchester/Miroku High Wall. Dead easy drop in that fits the existing tapped holes for the Marbles sight the rifle originally came with.

Put this on a new model Winchester 38/55 high wall, fit was good. Went to the range and sight worked perfectly. Excellent repeatability, went from 100 yard to 200 yard many times. Each time sight was right on ! Can't beat it for the money !!!
